After teaching in North America, the UK, and taking part as a leading teacher in Hatha and pranayama in yoga teacher trainings in India, Jose realized the need for a new understanding of teaching for the modern yoga students, where the original values of yoga would not be compromised by the new learning tools and trends. His understanding about yoga has led him to conduct classes that are a perfect blend between traditional Hatha and modern Vinyasa, with a strong focus on alignment and mindful breathing. In his classes, he strives to find the balance to challenge the mind and body.
Madhu is from a Hindu, from a Brahmin family. Therefore, yama, niyama, and mantra chanting have been part of her daily life. She has a wide experience of practicing with the best traditonal Indian and Western yoga teachers. While working as a leading Ashtanga Vinyasa and yogic philosophy teacher in the teacher trainings in North America and the Indian subcontinent, she then realized how necessary it is to bring back the true meaning of what yoga really is, the perfect union between body, mind, soul and the Panchamahabhutas.
Banjaara Yoga is nestled in a medieval border town of Tui, Galicia boasting beautiful architecture and landscape. You will be staying in one of the three houses that make a magnificent and spacious Galician Pazo (countryside house) surrounded by lush greens and nestled in peaceful surroundings. The house is only a short walk away from the town centre, allowing us access and ease to the community, farmers markets, local producers as well as to the neighbouring Portuguese town of Valença and just far away enough to really enjoy the peace and tranquillity.
The house has a private garden, veranda and swimming pool. The rooms are beautifully furnished and offer a picturesque nature view. The rooms are either single, double or of shared occupancy and they all meet the highest quality and comfort standards. Be prepared for some breathtaking experience and falling asleep to the sweet nature sounds.
The city of Tui is in the south of the Pontevedra province in Galicia, Spain and is separated from Portugal by the river Miño. The Portuguese town of Valencia sits on a hill just across the river and the two towns face each other over a valley. Both towns are connected by a nineteenth-century bridge.
The city, which has been declared a Historic-Artistic Site, has had its heritage enriched over the centuries thanks to its strategic location. Tui is, above all, a medieval town which emanated cultural, economic and military life.
Always with an eye on neighbouring Portugal –sometimes a friend, sometimes an enemy, it sits on a border which no longer serves any purpose, the iron bridge over the river is one of its most emblematic images along with its stone architecture.
Tui is more peaceful for it, and as they stroll through its medieval streets, travellers can understand why the city has been declared a Historic-Artistic Site and possesses several miradors.
The mountain of Aloia, near Tui, was the first place in Galicia to be declared a Nature Reserve and is a perfect viewing point to take in the Vigo estuary and the Louro valley. This river flows into the Miño, the true key figure in the life of the city, forming a natural frontier with Portugal. In fact, all the routes which left the neighbouring country and which did not join the Ruta de la Plata would end up in Tui.
Homemade meals will be an enjoyable experience, three vegetarian meals will be lovingly cooked by an experienced Spanish chef, who will make sure that you are served the best quality local products in every meal.
