I have been practising Reiki for a number of years & I am a Reiki Master/Practitioner, registered with the UK Reiki Federation & fully insured.
I have also taken a course in Animal Reiki with an internationally acclaimed Reiki Master & attended various courses in Animal Communication, recently achieving a Diploma in this modality.
I am presently offering Reiki for animals on a voluntary basis at my local Animal Shelter.
As a child, I spent many happy hours exploring the countryside around my home, which nurtured my life-long love of nature & all animal life.
I feel blessed to have lived & worked with many different species of animals, from hamsters to rhinos & many more in-between, having been a guardian to numerous pets & working alongside many varied & exotic species, firstly at a zoo & then a large safari park, where animals were treasured by their human counterparts, who devoted themselves to caring for the animals 24/7. After a few years I relocated to Gloucestershire & spent some time volunteering at a wildlife rescue centre. I then trained & qualified as a Veterinary Nurse & spent many more years working in Small Animal Practice, for some of this time as Head Nurse, before finally leaving my profession to work in a different field alongside my husband & devote myself to my two children.
I had heard about Reiki & thought I knew vaguely what it was about, but after a devastating tragedy, I found Reiki – or perhaps it found me – through my friend & mentor who generously supported me by giving me a series of Reiki treatments; for which I am eternally grateful.
Reiki helped me to find the strength to carry on & eventually emerge from the abyss I had found myself in…..it is truly amazing!
I now practice Reiki for my own well-being on a daily basis & wish to dedicate myself to helping others – human or otherwise – become more at ease with themselves & their own lives, to relieve feelings of anxiety, to find comfort & support from within & to experience a more peaceful & balanced state of mind, through Reiki.
I believe in using complementary therapies as a way to take control of our own health. I am particularly drawn to them because they tend to be more natural and treat the individual as a whole rather than just a disease or condition. I love to approach health from as many different angles as possible and try to get to the root of the problem rather than just treating symptoms. I believe that providing a safe and nurturing environment in which to heal is as important as the therapies themselves.
From a young age I have been interested in complementary therapies such as therapeutic massage, aromatherapy, reiki, crystals and stress management, and then healthy eating and juicing.
My health deteriorated in my twenties when I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). I suffered with debilitating fatigue, anxiety, weight gain and hair loss. I was determined to find a natural solution which would allow me to start a family without taking the drugs that my Doctor was recommending.
I studied Nutritional Therapy at the Institute for Optimal Nutrition (ION) in London, and applied what I had learned to my own situation. I also incorporated other therapies including Reflexology, Hypnotherapy, Creative Visualisation, Chinese and Western Herbalism and Acupuncture. My son was born a couple of years later and was soon followed by my daughter – no drugs required!
Since having my family I have become increasingly interested in the Mind-Body Connection, Meditation and Yoga, and have trained in Energy 4 Life Wellness Coaching and Reiki. I am currently completing a Diploma in Crystal Therapy.
While it is my firm belief that eating well is the cornerstone of good health, it is not the whole answer. Taking the time to manage stress and take care of your emotional and spiritual needs are just as important, and ignoring them can hold you back.
I’m passionate about my wellbeing and about helping others to find the path to their own health, emotional and spiritual goals.Joanne Grylls offers clients a range of holistic therapies assisting people to live life to its fullest potential focusing on well-being on all levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual as sometimes we can all need a little help, healing or guidance.
