The Secret Way Back Home
I often read in so many lovely blogs, and completely agree with it too, as I know it through experience that… staying connected with God is all that matters. That’s what the hue and cry, tear and fight is all about. The rest is, on most occasions, a brain and eye wash to satisfy the complicated human brain which by nature of its analytical idiosyncrasies needs time-consuming paraphernalia as the foundation of something as sublime, nay, impossible as connecting with God! Elaboration is not bad as such, provided it is an expression of love made purely out of love, and not out of compulsion!
Some true ‘bhaktas’ say, of course, out of love, that it is good to be a beggar as that does away with Ego and leaves you at His mercy alone. But I say, why a beggar? Why the need to beg? Ego will anyway hide, run and wither like a loser the moment His grace shines upon you and your heart is one with Him!
The Truth is that staying connected IS what ‘realization’ is all about, leading to ‘oneness’! …and the dedicated channel of connection runs through the heart! …the speaker of the soul… where you hear the inner whisper of Truth, always relaying divine will!
We must remember Who this channel of connection take us to… what is our relationship with Him/Her? …This is our heavenly Father, our cosmic Mother. This is not a step-father or a step-mother, this is our forever own most intimate, rather innate Parent …Universal Source… of, by, for and from Who each one of us came into being! Then why the begging? Is He a feared autocrat? Or is He the ever loving and ever loved one?
…If He truly is our Father, if She really is our Mother, then why not demand with the power of captivating love?! We beg from the one separate and far apart seated upon a high alter with a scepter, BUT we Ask, rather DEMAND from our own Father or Mother!
Paramhansa Yogananda says, “Ask like a son and He will give you like a Father! Beg and you will receive alms!”
Believe you are His son and He will embrace you to His bosom; believe you are a beggar and you will receive His alms of mercy. The only begging I can think of, considering our actual relationship with the Almighty, is of the lover begging for love and oneness with his beloved, as if to say, “I give all of me up to you!”
Christians start their prayer as, “Oh Lord, my God, my loving Father! I love you with my whole heart and above all things! And I offer to you my thoughts, words and actions!” …notice, though they start with ‘oh Lord’, the address immediately changes from that to ‘my God’, and finally to ‘my loving Father’… the most intimate call of the child! If you are a parent, you know how that call makes you drop everything and run to embrace your little one!
First establish your channel of love, reclaim His fatherhood, and claim your share of His divine wealth! The kingdom of God is our own home!
…Feel at home, talk to the Father or the Mother freely, demand like a son/daughter. In this context I remember revered singer Anup Jalota’s bhajan that goes like this – “Kaun kehta hai Bhagwaan khate nahin? Shabari ki tarah tum khilate nahin!” – which means, who says God doesn’t really eat your offerings? It is you who have not fed Him as Shabari did… she tasted each berry to ensure it was sweet and then offered it to Sri Ram!
…and they say ‘jhootha’, stale, don’t taste offerings before they are offered, and what not!
My dear friends! …All that matters is true love and pure devotion!
So love Him as your own Father, your Mother, your Lover, your Best Friend, or your Soul-Mate! …Or as all these put together! Remember, when the child presents his wish-list, the Father cannot refuse; when the baby cries vehemently demanding something, the Mother can’t help but fulfill her craving at once! In Bangla we call it ‘adorer abdar’ …’claim of love’! … that which the parent can never ignore!!
…What easier way back home than this?
